Do you think non violent crimes should receive softer sentence because of overcrowded jails?

Softer punishments are a shady gray area. Our country has created laws to protect citizens for a good reason. Many laws were created by precedent from trials and the outcomes thereof. I personally believe that if we start changing punishments, then we open the door to more of those types of crimes. In reality, it seems to me like we should actually be changing the way the punishments are administered. I agree, that our jails are overcrowded and that there are people who are serving out sentences that really should no longer be there, that does not mean that they should receive a “softer” punishment. Maybe what we need are different types of facilities? Better yet, maybe our punishments are not harsh enough?

When you think about the low crime rates in some countries who are known for public beatings, it makes me wonder that if our citizens could be publicly caned for theft or littering, as in some countries, then people wouldn’t take the chance on doing it! So in my opinion, I say that crimes should be punished more harshly to deter the crime in the first place!

Is google chrome safe to use? I’d say that it obviously is not safer than Firefox (or any other decent web browser), simply because it’s still beta software, i.e. is going through a testing process. Also, Firefox and other browsers (Opera, Safari, Konqueror etc) have been around for quite a few years, whereas Chrome only for a few months.

It is inevitable that it’ll have some security issues during its “baby steps”. However, Chrome uses a powerful web-engine, it’s a very ambitious project of a huge web corp. and it has a touch of open source magic too. However, now that google chrome has been around for a bit (now on version 4.1 08/04/2010), the browser has proved itself to be more secure than other competing browser such as Mozilla’s Firefox, Microsoft’s internet explore and apples safari. At the pwn2own competition, which sees computer security experts hacking various types of software for a prise, google chrome was, for the second time in a row, the last man standing. The competitors managed to execute arbitrary code by exploiting bugs in IE, firefox and safari, but not google chrome. This wasn’t due to chrome having no bugs, in fact several of the competitors managed to identify a bug’s in chrome, however, due to the sandbox feature which chrome employs, no one was able to exploit them.

Has technology take over our lives? This is the question on my mind today. And a relevant one to all, I think. Why? Because if we are to admit for a moment that the answer is ‘yes’, the implications of this fact would be immense. We can extrapolate all day long, answering question such as ‘why’ but, for the time being, I think it is enough to highlight a certain aspect of the problem. Mainly the one reffering to our organic nature in opposition to the artificial one insinuated in our lives by all the gadgets we use. Let me elaborate, what is to a car its so-called ‘life force’, its fuel, namely gas, is deadly poisonous to a human being. If you make a little leap of the imagination, picture a car such a transformer, say Optimus Prime, drinking a jug of oil and feeling refreshed by that.

A human being just can’ t do that. Not without having hazardous consequences to his health and well being. Getting back to some more familiar scenarios, when you talk on your ultra-mega-smart mobile phone, that now-at-days has similar camabilities to a high-end computer, its internal components, yeah, things such as ‘transistors’ and ‘chips’ and many other warm up, if you use them for very long. And how can you not, given its fundamental nature to our everday chores. Now picture this, you keep that device a couple of centimeters away from your brain. Put two and two together and what do you get? I’ ll tell you, its what one of my friends got, a disasturous outcome.

Regretfully, a brain tumor. You might use hands-free devices or headphones, you might think that would help. And it does. But can you say you truly know how much? I for one do not. But surely wouldn’ t want to risk my life in order to find out. Thus, the question still stands but for a pertinent answer, I think each and every one of us should ask ourselves this question. I have. I think, although techonology cannot be classified simply as a good or bad thing, its uses should and must be restricted to a certain degree. Invite it in all aspects of your life and the results can be devastating.

When the Google first announced the launching of its own social network, called Google+, many people assumed it will play significant role in the social networking market. Do you think google plus is a hype?

With its invitation based registration process, which is standard for many new Google services, people were eager to register and see what this new network has to offer. But now, almost 6 months later, we see that people are reluctant to leave their old social networking website, such as Facebook and Twitter. Yes, Google+ has attracted significant amount of new users but it still not as widely used as other two major social network websites. Google is No1 Internet company in the world and it certainly has funds and resources to invest in making the Google+ a major player when it comes to social networks.

You will be followed and unfollowed by hundreds of people daily so it is important to keep your posts engaging enough to gain followers and keep them on your account. Once you reach a certain amount of friends to follower ratio, Twitter will not let you follow anybody else. This is when you know you need more content in your Tweets.

Facebook is the clear winner. The ability to engage someone in a conversation is easier and the traffic to lead conversion is much higher. Twitter is great for getting people to check out your new blog posts, or a new website but unless you have over 20,000 followers, you will need to work really hard to generate one lead from Twitter.

Researchers don’t ask people to drink or skip coffee for the sake of science. Instead, they ask them about their coffee habits. Those studies can’t show cause and effect. It’s possible that coffee drinkers have other advantages, such as better diets, more exercise, or protective genes.
